Delhi hasn't always been India's capital, but it has played a paramount role in Indian history. The British captured Delhi in 1803, but during the Indian uprising of 1857 it was a centre of resistance against them. There have been at least eight cities around moderns Delhi. The first four cities were to the south around the area where the Qutb Minar stands and the another four are near Firoz Shah Kotla, India Gate, Old Delhi and New Delhi itself.

Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, the nucleus of Brajbhoomi, is located at a distance of 145 km south-east of Delhi and 58 km north-west of Agra, the city of Taj. Covering an area of about 3,800 sq. km., today, Brajbhoomi can be divided into two distinct units - the eastern part in the trans-Yamuna tract with places like Gokul, Mahavan, Baldeo, Mat and Bajna and the western side of the Yamuna covering the Mathura region that encompasses Vrindavan, Govardhan, Kusum Sarovar, Barsana and Nandgaon.

The ancient name of Kullu was Kuluta. This was one of the oldest principalities in the Punjab hills. Kuluta has a lot of references in old Sanskrit literature. A coin bearing, the name of the early Rajas has been assigned on palaeographical grounds to the first or second Christian century. The Chinese pilgrim Hiuen Tsang (A. D. 629- 645) visited it. At that time Kullu probably included all the territory now in Mandi and Suket. The original capital was at, Jagat sukh but was moved to Nagar and finally to Sultanpur in A. D. 1660

Gangotri is one of the char Dham of Uttarakhand. It is situated in the magnificent Garhwal Himalayas at an elevation of 3048 meters and is 105 kms from Uttarkashi. The Gangotri shrine is seen as the spiritual source of Hindusium’s most scared river, the Ganga. According to the Hindu mythology, Ganga, The stream of the life, was granted as a reward for King Bhagirathi’s servere penance, and the river is worshipped as a deity. The physical source of the river is at Gaumukh, 18 Km southeast of Gangotri, along the Gangotri glacier.

Yamunotri one of the four sacred Dham of Uttarakhand, and revered in Hindu mythology, Yamunotri is the source of river Yamuna. The Yamunotri shrine sands on the western flank of the Bandarpunch Peak (20, 731ft. The temple is dedicated to goddess Yamuna. The origin to river Yamuna is the Champasar glacier near Yamunotri. Though it is very difficult to reach the exact source of the Holy River, pilgrims flock to the shrine which is open from May to November. Legend has it that a sage. Asit Muni, used to reside at this scheduled spot. The hot spring here also attraction. From Rishikesh, 220km, journey takes one to Hanuman Chatti where the motor able read ends.
